Formulasi Dan Uji Sediaan Masker Gel Peel-Off Perasan Lidah Buaya (Aloe Vera L.) Sebagai Pelembab Kulit

Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) is a natural ingredient widely used in cosmetics due to its polysaccharide and bioactive compounds that act as skin moisturizers. This study aims to formulate and evaluate the physical quality of a peel-off gel mask preparation containing aloe vera juice as a facial skin moisturizer. The research methods include making aloe vera juice, formulating a peel-off gel mask preparation using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a film former and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) as a gelling agent, and evaluating the physical quality of the preparation. The evaluations carried out included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesiveness, and drying time. The results showed that the peel-off gel mask preparation had a gel form, white color, and a distinctive aloe vera odor, and was homogeneous. The pH value obtained was 5 so it was in accordance with the skin's pH and was safe to use. The adhesion and drying time tests showed results that met the requirements, namely adhesion of more than 4 seconds and drying time in the range of 15–30 minutes. However, the spreadability value obtained was still below the ideal standard, requiring further formula optimization. Overall, the aloe vera peel-off gel mask preparation has the potential to be used as a skin moisturizer due to its good physical characteristics.
